TRANSITIONS is a long-term project, which deals with the issue of change or transition. The word "transit" comes from Latin and means "through" ("trans") and "go" ("ire"), so for something that is constantly in transition. Originally created for the travel and Culture Blog Transit World Mag, this essayistic project is about making gaps, different worlds, passages and change visible, with texts and photography.

The "TRANSITIONS" can be changes within urban landscapes, social processes, forms of cultural identity, purely aesthetically interesting snapshots or even simple observations. Moreover, this series also tries to set image and text into a different context. Archival material and current photographs are combined in new ways with each other to find a contemporary form of documentary and fictional storytelling.

TRANSITIONS ist ein Langzeit-Projekt, das sich mit dem Thema Veränderung oder Übergang beschäftigt. Das Wort „Transit“ kommt aus dem Lateinischen und steht für „durch“ („trans“) und „gehen“ („ire“), also für etwas, dass sich ständig im Übergang befindet. Ursprünglich konzipiert für den Reise- und Kultur-Blog Transitworld Mag, geht es in diesem essayistischen Projekt sowohl textlich als auch fotografisch darum, Zwischenräume, unterschiedliche Welten, Passagen und Wechsel sichtbar zu machen.

Dabei können „TRANSITIONS“ Übergänge innerhalb von urbanen Landschaften, gesellschaftliche Prozesse, Formen von kultureller Identität, rein ästhetisch interessante Momentaufnahmen oder auch nur schlichte Beobachtungen sein. Darüber hinaus versucht diese Serie auch, Bild und Text in einen anderen Kontext zu setzen. Archiv-Material und aktuelle Fotografien werden auf neue Art und Weise miteinander kombiniert, um eine zeitgemäße Form für dokumentarisches und fiktionales STORYTELLING zu finden.

JAPAN is a country in a continuous state of change: nature, art, tradition and daily life form separate worlds, with transitions that are sometimes absolutely fluent. In addition to stone deserts like Osaka or Tokyo, nature is nevertheless still omnipresent: in parks like the Meiji Jingu, Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples. Especially Kyoto still offers a stunning mix of urban landscape and nature.

JAPAN befindet sich als Land in einer kontinuierlichen Umbruchsituation: Natur, Technik, Tradition und das tägliche Leben bilden eigenständige Welten, mit Übergängen, die manchmal absolut fließend sind. Neben Steinwüsten wie Osaka oder Tokyo ist die Natur trotzdem immer noch omnipräsent: in Parks wie dem Meiji-Jingu, Shinto-Schreinen oder buddhistischen Tempeln. Besonders Kyoto bietet trotz der allgemein kritisierten Architektur-Sünden immer noch eine atemberaubende Mischung aus urbaner Landschaft und Natur.
